Meet Emma

Maybe some of her story will feel familiar.

Emma had always been the person who kept everything going.

Work. Family. The house. Appointments. Birthdays. Shopping. Looking after everyone else.

She’d never really thought about it. It was just what she did.

Until, gradually, things started to change.

Her children were becoming more independent. Her mum was beginning to need more help. Her body didn’t seem to respond to things in quite the same way anymore, and the energy she’d once taken for granted wasn’t always there.

She’d stand in front of her wardrobe in the morning and stare.

There were plenty of clothes in there.

But somehow, nothing felt right.

She’d gained weight. Clothes that used to make her feel good didn’t feel comfortable anymore, and she wasn’t sure what suited her now. So she’d reach for the same safe outfits she’d worn a hundred times before.

Black was easy.

Black didn’t ask questions.

She’d stopped wearing some of her makeup too.

Her skin had changed. Her foundation didn’t sit the same way.

Eyeshadow seemed impossible.

Lipstick disappeared into the lines around her mouth.

Little things, perhaps.

But somehow all those little things had begun to add up.

Emma didn’t feel like Emma anymore.

And the strangest part?

She couldn’t quite explain why.

Nothing had happened that she could point to and say, “That’s it. That’s when everything changed.”

She just knew she was tired of feeling like she was somehow getting further away from herself.

She loved seeing other women embrace colour, style and confidence.

She just couldn’t imagine doing it herself.

And when she tried to explain how she felt, the responses weren’t always helpful.

“You’re fine.”

“You’ve got nothing to worry about.”

“Just get on with it.”

So Emma carried on.

Because that’s what women like Emma tend to do.

Until one day she decided that perhaps she mattered too.

Not because she needed fixing.

Not because she’d suddenly become someone she didn’t like.

But because somewhere underneath all the changes, responsibilities and expectations was a woman who wanted to find her way back to herself.

Maybe that’s where her story really begins.
